I always feel like such a filthy hipster when I point out that the popular version of Nyan Cat isn’t the original. It’s the only time I’ve liked an UTAUloid more than a Vocaloid though.

crazy whenever I tell anyone ‘Nyan Cat’ is vocaloid they don’t even know what vocaloid is.

The song used in Nyan Cat was actually a popular remake using a UTAUloid. However, the original version of the song created by Daniwell called “Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya!” used Hatsune Miku, and was released in July 2010.
So Daniwell started the entire meme that spawned Nyan Cat 9 months later.
